If it becomes necessary to deviate from the contracted voyage for some reason, what should the master do?

(1) Report to the owners so that they can arrange protective additional cover with their P&I club; and (2) make a full record in the Official Log Book of the circumstances necessitating the deviation, the deviation time and position.
