In UK law, what is a temporary exclusion zone (TEZ)?

A zone, designated by the MCA under powers in section 100A of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, around a casualty in the UK territorial sea or on the UK continental shelf, where there is a threat of pollution or damage to persons or property from the casualty. (Several other countries have similar laws permitting the establishment of TEZs. )
