(1) A ship with a defective engine;
(2) a ship with a defective compass; (3) a ship with an incompetent engineer or other officer; (4) a ship with deck cargo stowed in such a way as to render the vessel unstable; (5) a ship of which the master is not fully conversant with the SMS.
