What is meant by “management review”?

A procedure for shore management personnel (including the DP) to review the shore-side and shipboard safety management system to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness. Reviews are usually made in one or more regular meetings at which an analysis of reported accidents and nonΒ­conformities is made to determine trends.
