A UK ship is going into “cold lay-up” in a sheltered harbour with no crew members on board. What are the MCA’s requirements concerning ISM Code documentation?

(1) The Safety Management Certificate (and International Ship Security Certificate) will be withdrawn.

 (2) The procedures required to fully reactivate the ship will need to be established (in the SMS). (3) On reactivation the ship would be treated as a new ship to the company and following successful interim audit an Interim SMC will be issued. (See also LAY-UP in Section I.)
