ISO Standards

ISO Standards. The β€œInternational Organisation for Standardisation”, based in Geneva, Switzerland, establishes international standards in nearly all fields of technology such as shipbuilding, road vehicles, aircraft, documentation, packaging, etc.

The ISO has also established various standards for freight containers. These include:

Coding, identification and marking of containers (see also BIC-Code).

Classification, external dimensions and weight ratings.

Minimum internal dimensions.

Terminology relating to freight containers.

Specifications of corner fittings.

Specification and testing of freight containers.

Handling and securing of containers.

Hooks for lifting containers and others.
