What are the requirements of The Merchant Shipping (Hours of Work) Regulations relating to records?

A record of a seafarer’s daily hours of rest must be maintained by the master or a person authorised by him.

Records must be in English and in the working language of the ship if different. Records must be endorsed by the master and by the seafarer. A copy must be given to the seafarer. MSN 1767 states that records should be completed monthly in arrears, and that they should be in the same format as the specimen at Annex B of the MSN, or an equivalent format showing at least this information.

What information on the hours of rest record should be completed on board, as shown in the specimen at Annex B of MSN 1767?

What information must be in a table of scheduled hours of rest (or “table of duties”)?
