What is the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (or MLC 2006)?

An ILO convention which consolidates in one document up-to-date standards of 36 older ILO maritime conventions and one ILO recommendation adopted since 1920. It sets minimum requirements for seafarers to work on a ship and contains provisions on conditions of employment, hours of work and rest,accommodation, recreational facilities, food and catering, health protection,medical care, welfare and social security protection.
