An MCA publication properly called Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers 2003 implementing EC Directive 201/96/EC (establishing harmonised requirements and procedures for the safe loading and unloading of bulk carriers), published in July 2003.
Compliance with specified parts of the SLU Code is mandatory under the SLU Regulations for the terminal operator, the terminal representative, the master of a bulk carrier and the MCA. In the SLU Regulations the SLU Code is referred to as “the MCA’s SLU Bulk Carriers publication”.
