Whenever any of the above operations (i. e. discharges of residues into the sea in accordance with regulations, and exceptional discharges) takes place in respect of any NLS, a record of the operation must be made in the Cargo Record Book in relation to each tank affected by the operation.
An entry must be made on each occasion of: internal transfer of cargo; cleaning of cargo tanks; ballasting of cargo tanks; discharge of ballast from cargo tanks; discharge of residues into the sea in accordance with Schedule 2 of M.1703/NLS 1; removal of residues by ventilation; and emergency discharges (stating the circumstances of and reason for the discharge).
