(1) An initial survey before the ship is put in service or before the ISPPC is first issued; (2) a renewal survey at intervals of not more than 5 years; and (3) an additional survey, either general or partial, according to the circumstances, after a repair resulting from an investigation or whenever any important repairs or renewals are made.
