When a ship is on charter, is it necessary for the charter party to be on board?

If the charter is a bareboat charter, probably not, as few if any of the clauses will need to be read by the master.Β

If the charter is a time or voyage charter, however, it is vital that the master is familiar with the contents of certain clauses, such as the on- and off-hire provisions of a time charter, and the notice of readiness and laytime clauses of a voyage charter.
