Which ships are generally excepted from the SOLAS Convention’s provisions?

Unless specifically provided otherwise in SOLAS chapters or regulations: (1) ships of war and troopships; (2) cargo ships of less than 500 GT; (3) ships not propelled by mechanical means; (4) wooden ships of primitive build;

(5) pleasure yachts not engaged in trade; and (6) fishing vessels.
