What are the Company’s obligations under the ISPS Code regarding the master’s authority?

The Company must ensure that the ship security plan contains a clear statement emphasising the master’s authority.

The Company must establish in the ship security plan that the master has the overriding authority and responsibility to make decisions with respect to the safety and security of the ship and to request the assistance of the Company or of any Contracting Government (i. e. a SOLAS Party State) as may be necessary. (Section 6. 1)
