What is a copy bill of lading?

A bill of lading issued with a set of original bills for some purpose other than that of claiming delivery of the goods. It may be a captain’s copy or an office filing copy. It should be clearly marked “COPY – NON-NEGOTIABLE”. Several copy bills will usually be issued for each consignment.
