ANERA. This is the acronym given to an organisation of ship operating and owning companies that operate liner services between Asia and North America. The acronym stands for: Asia-North America Eastbound Rate Agreement. This was one of the large groupings (“super-conferences”) that came into existence soon after the United States Shipping 1984 was passed. As the name indicates, the “rate agreement”— which is one name for what was originally called a “liner conference”—Offers services from the Far East to North America. The service from North America to the Far East is offered by the “TWRA”, Transpacific Westbound Rate Agreement.
