What surveys are required for a UK passenger ship in the HSSC?

(1) Before being put into service, an initial survey including an inspection of the outside of the ship’s bottom;Β 

(2) within 3 months before the end of every 12-month period following issue of the Passenger Ship Safety Certificate, a renewal survey including an inspection of the outside of the ship’s bottom (for issue of a new PSSC); and (3) after any repair resulting from investigations following a report to the MCA or a proper officer of an accident or a defect affecting the safety of the ship or its LSA, an additional survey.
