What are charterers’ usual basic obligations under a voyage charter party?

(1) To provide the agreed cargo at the agreed loading port; (2) to load the cargo within the agreed period of laytime; (3) to pay owners the agreed rate of freight at the agreed time. Where “free in and out” (FIO) terms are agreed they must pay cargo-handling costs at both ends.
