What are the statutory requirements for the provision of anchors and cables on UK ships?

The Merchant Shipping (Cargo Ship Construction) Regulations 1997 and The Merchant Shipping (Passenger Ship Construction) Regulations 1998 provide that:Β 

(1) every ship must be provided with anchor handling equipment together with such anchors and chain cables as are sufficient in number, weight and strength having regard to the size of the ship; and (2) this equipment must be tested and certified by the Certifying Authority.
