Is the statutory classification system (i. e. Classes I to XII) applied to UK ships an international system?

No. It is a UK-only system used for the MCA’s purposes, and is not used by IMO or ILO. Various other countries, such as Canada, India, Ireland and New Zealand, also have national ship class systems, but their class numbers and descriptions are not aligned with the UK’s.
