What precautions should a master take with visitors to the ship in the interests of safety and legal propriety?

He should ensure that surveyors and other visitors who need to move about the ship are at all times accompanied by an officer. Movements of visitors on any kind of business (e. g. surveyors) should be restricted to those parts of the ship of legitimate interest. Movements of other visitors (e. g. family, students, etc. ) should likewise be monitored and controlled, and in the interests of claims reduction should be restricted to non-working areas of the vessel.
